Serenading Franz West in Central Park

Summer 2009

A collaboration with Joan Healy

Franz West’s largest sculpture to date, The Ego and the Id, was on display in New York City’s Central Park until March of 2010. To celebrate the acclaimed artist’s love of whimsy and interactivity, Dublin artist Joan Healy and I reenacted the sculpting process using their own bodies as part of the medium. We plastered ourselves onto a bench, painted our bodies pink and yellow, and remained still for an encouraging audience, in effect mimicking The Ego and the Id.

Special thanks to Bob Clark for video and stills.
